Not only do I write, but I’m also a dramatic soprano.

Lately, most of my performances have been at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, where I formed the St. Barbara Singers. We have an Easter concert on April 22, 2017 at 7pm. You should come. I’m singing some lovely big sacred pieces, but you will also enjoy a mix of sacred folk, spirituals, and contemporary music.

Here I am in the green room at our encore January 2016 concert of opera and musical theater. The St. Barbara Singers held a glorious Christmas concert in December 2016, and we plan to have twice yearly concerts going forward.

Hear me sing “Gesu Bambino” from the 2016 St. Barbara Singers Christmas concert:

And my arrangement of The Coventry Carol:

The women sang a lovely rendition of the folk song “Star in the East”-

Past Collaborations

I was cast as Desdemona in Triangle Opera Studios’ forthcoming production of Verdi’s Otello, and I participated in Singer’s Circle concerts and in studio recitals.

Review of The Singer’s Circle Christmas Concert by Classical Voice of North Carolina (click for full):

The coloratura soprano mastery of Summer Kinard shone through in a duet with [Philip] van Lidth [de Jeude] of “Panis Angelicus,” a lovely, soaring descant feature in “Hark, the Herald Angels Sing,” and “O Holy Night,” which she sang as a powerful, virtuosic solo.

Summer Kinard, dramatic soprano

Summer Kinard, dramatic soprano, will sing Desdemona in Triangle Opera Studio’s production of Verdi’s Otello.

Hear Summer singing The Willow Song and Ave Maria from Verdi’s Otello (accompanied by Justin Sturz) at The Singer’s Circle inaugural concert in August 2012:

Soprano Summer Kinard recently returned to studying opera with Katherine Posner after developing her writing career. (View her published works on her Amazon Author Page.) Besides singing in concerts with the St. Barbara Singers and The Singer’s Circle, Summer has appeared locally with Triangle Opera Studios, with whom she prepared to sing the role of Desdemona in their canceled production of Verdi’s Otello. Previously, Summer performed with the Opera Company of North Carolina’s Opera About Town program and with the Johanna Meier Opera Theater Institute, where she sang Violetta in La Traviata and coached with Ms. Meier. Summer is also an experienced sacred music singer and enjoys singing oratorio, though opera is where she feels most at home.
